More Secret Game Club

draft ideas for new site pages.

My final project for intermediate new media in art just so happens to also be my final project for new media in art last term, a continuation of my website secret game club. A monochromatic website focused on video games, secret game club is my take on the  secondary games media I grew up with as someone who didn’t have a ton of games growing up but loved the medium and now as someone who has little patience for coding but still desires to be involved with the medium. Secret game club follows an alternate reality games hideout with strange properties, I wish to incorporate the story here into site thus gamifying this piece of secondary media through the tools of a digital website, either through hidden links that the viewer will have to search for or through just exploring regularly. I wanted the site to be something about my own personal experiences with games rather than just the usual reviews but since games, as art often is, is a communal experience, I included the submissions button because I intend to continue that community experience in the site and want other people to indulge in their own personal experiences regarding games and completely. Games are something I have a lot of passion for and I think a lot of people have a similar passion, and I believe, due to the nature of games as a medium that the secondary media and community are equal parts important to the medium artistically and I believe in using the digital playground for this.

Welcome to... secret game club.

  https://secretgameclub.neocities.org/ Welcome to the secret game club! This is a website I made with the help of Zonelets , a helpful html template, and Neocities, a website host. When I decided to make a website, the last thing I wanted was a big stupid watermark in the corner of the screen, so I went to Neocities a host specifically about hosting html sites, specifically designed with the intent of replicating the old internet form of websites (even taking the name of Geocities), because it gave near complete freedom with the layout and ideas, the trade-off is that it’s all html based rather than an easy to understand template, and I have little experience with coding, however I found a html blog template by the name of Zonelets,  and continued to edit from there, interestingly, even when still using another template I still felt a sense of freedom not seen in an more accessible blog editor website like blogger. A VIDEO ABOUT NOT MAKING A VIDEO

  So, I ran out of time, I didn’t ration my time have time to make anything very interesting and was feeling bad about it. So I decided to make my video about doing anything other than making a video. I know, not exactly groundbreaking material, but it’s what I had. So I set up the camera to film me over   the next four hours and just decided to act naturally, then I stuck it together in IMovie. In a weird way I guess it does sort of fit into McCluhan’s ideas. “We have had to shift our stress of attention from action to reaction. We must now know in advance the consequences of any policy or action, since the results are experienced without delay.
