For my project, I decided to adapt a the first page of the very first comic Dr. Strange comic, opening with a man restless in bed due to recurring nightmare, deciding to call for the titular Doctor. I thought it would be interesting to adapt something from a comic since a comic is an inherently visual medium (I should know, it’s my medium of choice), and adapt the energy of a comic panel into audio form, so I tried to capture the haunting atmosphere of the visuals into background noise. In the comic it’s raining, so I recorded myself on the shower and used that for the noises, I also recorded other noises like me tapping on a window, some sounds of a dryer, and myself whispering, the comic doesn’t show any noises like this, but they’re used all to shape the atmosphere one cannot see but hear. I also decided to mess around in GarageBand with the effects and instruments, this is mostly me playing around, it’s not everyday sounds, but I thought they fit the tone and tied into previous Ideas of amateurism, especially the very bad guitar at the end.
